Heavens!! It’s been over a month since I’ve blogged! I always feel so guilty when I neglect my blog but honestly, so much has been happening over the last month that I have hardly had time to scratch my nose!
The most consuming of all things has been moving house! And this time, the house is mine! Despite the fact that the bank now owns me, I can sleep easy knowing that I can paint my walls lime if I want to while I also keep the carpets in my house clean by using professional services as carpet cleaning melbourne just for this purpose.
Thought I’d upload a few pics of what I’ve been up to lately, in between unpacking boxes, finishing Term 2 at school, visiting my Grandpa in the hospital (get well soon Nonno), paying bills and training a new puppy, while also securing my home by adding some cctv systems which is important for everyone with a new home.
I know this doily lamp shade idea has made its rounds of the internet, but I always wanted to give it a go. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. Firstly, I had to find the blasted doilies (found a heap at St Vinnies, Springvale – don’t bother going. I bought them all!), then making them stick to that god forsaken balloon was a job and a half!
Finally did it though. Drying as we speak.
I made this coat rack a few days ago, after finding a secret stash of cut branches on a walk. I felt like a nomad carrying a heap of sticks down the street. If you’re going to try this, I advise you leave the ant infested stick right where you found it.
A bit of spray paint, some coloured wool and a couple of picture frame hooks and it was done. Using the spray paint has been a bit of a challenge for me. The stains were difficult to get rid of. However, with the help of professional nyc maid services, I have finally powered through. Not sure how much weight the rack will take, but provided no one hangs a bag full of bricks on it, I think it’ll be fine.
So, about that puppy training, here’s the culprit. His name is Cesar and he’s a Rhodesian Ridgeback x Staffy.
He’s nearly 4 months old and has already dug 5 holes in my courtyard, overturned my aloe vera pot, broken my chili plant pot and watched 2 dog beds just explode!! Apart from that, he’s the most well behaved puppy, I’ve ever known. More on him to come.
I got this idea from some online shop that was attempting to charge me $200 per cushion for something along these lines. I grabbed a few metres of canvas, painted some designs with fabric paint and whipped up (it really took me 4 hours *cough*) some cushions. I quite like them and they work quite well with our bottoms and the benches we’re using with our living room table.
After an ebay purchase from a lady who makes these in California, I learnt how to make simple macrame pot hangers myself! Oh well – the ones I bought are much more elaborate and use MUCH more string (which isn’t as cheap as I thought it would be!) The branch is one I found on my walk and my ultimate goal is to have a few more of these pots hanging on it. It looks pretty cute but I’m just waiting for the wind to blow it over!
I’ve wanted to have a go at making candles for literally WEEKS! It doesn’t take me long to give something crafty a go and I can now tick candle making off my list! I was surprised at how far a kilo of soy wax DOESN’T go. In any case, I made three candles – one smells like Licorice, the other Cinnamon and the third Bergamot.
Phew! Done. You’re now updated on the last few weeks of my life. I will try and post a few more projects over the next few days and I know I can’t use the no time excuse now – I’m on HOLIDAYS! Yay!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone. 8 weeks till Spring….
Fantastic blog del! Enjoyed all ur creations 🙂
