Here is my little work space that I have inhabited at school. Yes indeed, I’ve pushed the kiddies aside and I’m in production! Nooo… the kiddies have plenty of room! As you can see I currently have 4 lamps in production and I have tiny little cuts all over my hands from the chicken wire. Ah well.. one must suffer for their art.
This lamp is almost finished, however, the brown fabric is being difficult! It’s refusing to stick properly. Never the less, I’m soldiering on.
So here is the basic idea; sculptured chicken wire covered in plastic wrap and collaged with different fabrics. PVA glue is used as the binder. The chicken wire and plastic wrap are then removed after the fabric has gone hard. I’ll post some more pics up for you in the next day or so. I haven’t tried this lamp with an actual bulb inside it yet.. light makes all the difference. Stay tuned.
