A little while back, I was getting a tad worried that Ivy didn’t like painting. I know! Cause for concern right?! But I can happily announce – crisis over!
And I must give credit to Ivy’s wonderful carers at day care. I actually can’t express how much Ivy has grown from the experiences she’s had there over the last year and a half. She started off at the beginning of last year being so timid, awkward and uncomfortable with every aspect of day care. Now, it’s her favourite part of the week! She’s developed her social and communication skills, made friendships (slight obsession with Dylan) and most importantly she’s built her self confidence completely independent of us.
And the very best part? She can paint all day long and I don’t have to clean up!! (Although I do wish they’d use washable paint or enforce the smock rule!! And maybe lay off the glitter. Argh!)
Here are some of Ivy’s paintings from day care. They are the first thing she shows me when I pick her up at the end of the day. The pride on her face is priceless.
