I just love Professional Development days! Especially those run by Zart Art. I went to a ‘Garden Art’ workshop a couple of months ago and what fun we had!
Along with making water proof flowers (mine was a bit of a disaster), the most successful and rewarding part of the day was the ceramic birds we gave birth to!
Of course, I couldn’t wait to get back to school so I could give all the new techniques I learnt a whirl! Here are some of the birdies my Year 7s created.
Some of the best ‘working with clay’ tips from the day:
-
Don’t use water
User skewer sticks to punch air holes all the way through the birds
Only use the bare minimum of tools – icy pole sticks and skewers were all we used
Actually, upon looking at all these birds as I post this, something has just occurred to me! They actually all resemble the student who made them in some way…. did they subconsciously make their birds with their own likeness? *gasp*
Well done Adelle, the birds are amazing, well Done!! Glad you enjoyed the workshop with Jane.
