It’s heading towards the end of term and as usual, I’m finding myself with a few spare year 7 lessons up my sleeve. Here’s what I came up with for today’s lesson. Balsa wood sculptures!
Hot glue guns at the ready, these only took the kids about an hour and a half to construct. I gave them a heap of balsa wood, scissors and glue guns (which they had to share, but I must confess that I was very impressed with their sharing skills today). They then cut, stuck and painted. They were supposed to be abstract. What do you think of them?
I’m planning on doing this activity with a group of kids- I’m wondering what kind of paint you used, in the pictures it almost looks like a lightly colored stain rather than acrylics or poster paint… Thanks.
We used water colour paint. Very watered down.
