Every once in a while, I’m lucky enough to get the ‘dream class’. This semester I have been blessed with what I’m calling, my best Year 9 class ever!
When you’re fortunate enough to land a class like this, achieving some pretty amazing work is easy! All I needed to do was give them the idea and materials to work with. The rest was up to them.
With this project, every student had a different artist they would be studying. I gave everyone a colour picture of their artist and this would be the picture they’d use as reference for their clay busts. The images below are a few examples of what the year 9s came up with. They haven’t been colour glazed yet, a few more weeks of drying to go!
I’ve done the Facbook page task before but I thought this would be fitting as a supplementary task to learn a bit more about their artist. Some of the comments are hilarious, just check out Frida Kahlo’s monobrow adventures. Others are heartbreaking, Vincent van Gogh, with only 1 friend, his brother Theo.
I’ll pop some more pics up when they’re totally finished.
Can’t breathe, this is too funny and looks so much fun!
These are too fab! Such a good idea for a class
They were so good and so funny it is good work. Thanks.
What a fantastic ceramic bust idea!
