If you haven’t noticed yet, my blog has had a little face lift. Well, maybe not quite a face lift but definitely some Botox. Have a look around and tell me what you think. I love my new sculpture and painting galleries in particular!

And so today is a lovely 26 degree day in Melbourne and I’ve spent the sun filled morning, sitting by my living room window researching some of the best craft markets in Melbourne. I’m looking into have a few Jewelry stalls around Melbourne in the up coming months and I’m trying to find what seem to be the best markets for art and crafts.

In no particular order, here’s a list of my top 5:

The Esplanade Market

Situated on the picturesque Esplanade along St Kilda Beach, The Esplanade Market St Kilda, has been running every Sunday since 1970 and is an outlet for local artists to sell their wares.

With nearly 200 of Victoria’s best artists and craftspeople, The Esplanade Market is an inspiring place for tourists and locals alike. Be warned though, it’s pretty hard getting your own stall here as the selection panel is very particular and many stalls have a permanent spot every Sunday.

Every Sunday

9am – 5pm

The Esplanade, St Kilda.

The Arts Centre Sunday Market

I haven’t been to this market in a while, probably due to my Sunday laziness and getting into the city on the weekend can be tough. It’s a great market and has a similar feel to The Esplanade market in St Kilda (without the beach!).

Sundays

10am – 5pm

Just over Prince’s Bridge, beside the Yarra River, Melbourne 3000

Shirt & Skirts Markets

I’ve had a stall at this market a few times and they were some of my most successful. The downside is it’s outdoors and not great in Winter but come Spring and Summer it is buzzing with families, couples, children, bike riders and dogs everywhere!

3rd Sunday of every month

10am- 4pm

Abbotsford Convent, 1 St Heliers Street, Abbotsford

Substation Artists’ Market

This market is gorgeous. I’ve only ever visited on rainy Winter days and it has one of the cosiest atmospheres. It’s an indoor market (yay!) which makes it the perfect Winter market and the perfect excuse to travel over to the West (if you’re not from there already).

1st Sunday of every month (except Jan)

10am – 3pm

1 Market Street,
Newport

Rose Street Artist’s Market

Up to 70 Artists and Designers are showcased at this market every weekend in the eclectic Fitzroy. From furniture to jewellery, from paintings to fashion. Some say, one of Melbourne’s hidden treasures. Find out…

Every Saturday and Sunday of the year (very cool)

11am- 5pm

60 Rose Street
Fitzroy
