Making Charm Bracelets
Charm Bracelet
Charm bracelets were this week’s art club activity. Making these took a little preparation but it was all worth while in the end. We basically had three types of charms. We used modelling air dry clay for some (which I used a few weeks ago when making our key chains), embossing sheet metal for others, and good ol’ buttons for some more.
Cutting clay charms and sheet metal embossing
The sheet metal embossing charms took the most preparation because I cut out each charm individually from the sheet metal in different shapes and sizes and poked a hole through each one, to save the girls time. (We only have 45 minutes a week!) To emboss onto sheet metal, all you need to do is place the metal on top of a pad of paper and use a dead ball point pen to draw on the design. So easy, with a cool result!

To create near perfect cirles and squares for our modelling clay charms, we layed out a thin piece of clay, placed a geometric shape stencil over the top and used a sharp tool to cut out each shape. MUCH easier than trying to cut out a circle freehand!
Charms, charms everywhere
My ideal goal for this activity was to have a kind of charm swapping party where all the charms were put in the centre of the table and everyone swapped and shared charms. This idea didn’t go down very well. Everyone wanted to keep their own! Hmmph.
