Lino Print on wooden sheet

Lino Print on wooden sheet

It’s funny how some groups of kids work through a task so quickly and some take forever! This group of year 9s took FOREVER to finish their Lino Prints! We finished them today! Finally. I was getting so sick of them to be honest. But here are two of my favourite prints. These ones were printed on a thin wooden sheet. Despite the sounds coming from the printing press as we were rolling them through, they came out quite well. Our theme was fantasy.. hmm.. not sure where these designs fit in with that.. but I guess butterflies and trees are quite fantastical… Nhu and Emily seemed to think so anyway.

YES. Believe it or not this copper ring took 3 hours to make and it’s not even finished yet! I started my metal jewelry course last night and this was our first project. I first had to cut a thin piece of copper off a copper sheet, then file it then anneal it (heat it so it can be bent easily) and bend it into shape. Yep. 3 hours. Next week we are joining it together, giving it a pattern of some kind and polishing it. We are also making a silver ring. Very exciting.

I’m jealous of your class work. There just isn’t anywhere locally that I can get to classes to learn soldering. Have a wonderful time with it. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
