The idea of getting my Year 7s to design and create their own Greek Sculptures, came to me as I wandered around the Acropolis Museum in Athens.

I started by giving the kids a handout (featured above) with some images and bits of information on some Greek Gods and other notables. From this they got ideas about how to construct a bust and specific facial features.

Their mission was to create their own “God”.

We ended up with “Goddess of Rainbows”, “Goddess of Grapes”, “Goddess of Stars” and one of my faves, the “God of Bricks”!!

One Response to “Greek God Ceramic Sculpture”

  1. Jude says:

The one (second from bottom, on right) must be the Goddess of Pride and Prejudice. And one at the top…God of Punk…Sid Vicious!(showing my age!) They’re great.
